An excerpt from the script “Lost Hope”. The story follows the life of teenager who struggles daily with life and has to see a therapist. Soon he starts to have haunting visions and dreams as he deals with his own pain.

SLOW FADE IN FROM BLACK:

FADE IN THUMPING SOUND:

SCENIC FULLSHOT OF CASTLE TOWER ON A WOODED HILL.(EARLY EVENING)

The sky is very strange hue with a dangerous cloud formation engulfing half the sky. This is real time, no fast motion.

The sound grows louder as we sit and just see this surreal scene

CUT TO:

ANGLEDOWNWARD OF A LEFT HAND BLURRY THEN FOCUSES (MALE) OPEN

We are seeing first person from JACOB’s point of view. He slowly reaches his right hand over and touches the lower part of his thumb. (slow and deliberate)

FADEOUT/IN:

THUMPING CONT:

WHAT LOOKS LIKE A DOORWAY TO A ROOM #316

FADEOUT/IN:

HIGHSCHOOL HALLWAY

JACOB pushes open hallway doors and is heading toward the stairs and sees a group of girls younger then him coming up. He is instantly drawn to one with dark hair with light skin that seems to lack a tan that clearly can obtain one with the summer sun.

THUMPING FADES TO THE BACKGROUND:

MUSIC IN:

ANGLE OF AMBER WALKING BY JACOB:

She clearly notices him and smiles and stares innocently.

CUT TO:

SHOT OF WHAT LOOKS LIKE BLUE PAINTED WALL

The camera makes out a horizontal line/strand but is clearly focused on the wall.

FADEOUT/IN:

JACOB AND AMBER TOGETHER ALONE

Tucked away in the corner hallway in the high school we find JACOB holding Amber’s face gently. He slowly leans forward as she stares at him wide eyed. He gently kisses her on the forehead. Her smile gleams from the heart.

CUT TO:

COLLEGE DORM BACKDOOR ENTRANCE: (evening)

JACOB bursts through the doors dressed in winter clothes. Looks up the stairs and begins to run to the third floor.

CUT TO:

BACK PORCH OF AMBER’S HOUSE (night)

JACOB is noticeably angry with Amber. As we get close behind JACOB we see Amber is struggling to not cry and she is grasping for his hand.

MUSIC FADES TO BACKGROUND:
